Greg Olsen again addresses likely losing Fox spot to Tom Brady

Fox lead NFL analyst Greg Olsen once again addressed likely losing his spot with the network to retired quarterback Tom Brady beginning next season, most recently during the latest edition of the "Sports Illustrated Media Podcast" hosted by Jimmy Traina.

"We’re gonna keep doing us, whatever team I’m on next year, whatever my future holds, wherever I am, so be it," Olsen said about working alongside lead play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt through the NFC Championship Game, as shared by Brandon Contes of Awful Announcing. "I’m on the record about how much I respect Tom. I understand the situation. He’s the greatest football player of all time. I get it. I understand what we all signed up for, but it is not going to alter one thing we do… all we’ve done is continue to deliver and the ratings and all metrics show it."

Olsen warned last February he was not "gonna roll over and die" and simply gift the lead Fox chair to Brady later this year, but such defiance can't erase the fact that the seven-time Super Bowl champion and the network agreed to a 10-year deal reportedly worth $375M following the 2021 season. 

While some remain unconvinced Brady will want to resume traveling for NFL games after he enjoyed a "gap year" away from the league, it seems he spent portions of the ongoing campaign preparing to replace Olsen as Fox's No. 1 NFL analyst. 

"All we do and all we have ever done…we just keep calling our game," Olsen added about how he and Burkhardt are handling the final days of their on-air partnership. "We just keep doing the game the way we see it. The way we talk about it and the way that we find is maybe a little bit different, new, we point out things that maybe not everyone’s pointing out. We dive into subjects of the game that are kinda a little more new age."

As noted by Bills Wire/USA Today, Olsen and Burkhardt will next call the divisional matchup between the Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers on Saturday night. It's unclear if Olsen will continue working for Fox, look to join a different NFL media partner or embrace a new career once he's finished with his playoff duties later this month.
