Jahmyr Gibbs propels Lions to first division title in 30 years
Matt Krohn-USA TODAY Sports

The University of Alabama produced a player that propelled an NFC North team to its first division championship in 30 years.

Jahmyr Gibbs, a first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, has the Detroit Lions as divisional champions for the first time since 1993. Detroit was in the NFC Central the last time it won a divisional crown.

Gibbs recorded 100 total yards — 80 rushing, 20 receiving — and two touchdowns in Sunday’s 30-24 victory for the Lions against Minnesota.

The native Georgian proved to be the right decision for Detroit as the No. 12 overall pick in 2023 draft.

Gibbs has over 1,000 scrimmage yards — 872 rushing, 316 receiving — and 10 touchdowns.

He was a marquee playmaker for Alabama football, but he’s been a great addition for fantasy football owners. Gibbs is prepared to have the Lions make noise in the playoffs.
