NFL insider gives update on Stefon Diggs’ situation with Bills

Stefon Diggs recently created some buzz with a cryptic social media post that had some believing he was angling for a trade from the Buffalo Bills, but it looks like it was all smoke with no fire.

ESPN NFL insider Dan Graziano says that Diggs will almost certainly be with the Bills in 2024.

“Calling around about this to people close to the situation, most of what I got back was, ‘This is Stefon Diggs, he does this a lot and ultimately they’ve been able to patch it up every time with Buffalo,’” Graziano said on SportsCenter, via Bleacher Report. “As of now, my expectation is that he’s on this year’s Bills.”

All of this chatter came as a result of Diggs posting “Ready for whatever” on his X account.

As Graziano notes, this is hardly the first time Diggs has publicly acted out in Buffalo, and if history is any indication, it probably won’t be the last time, either.

There had been speculation after the season that the Bills could trade Diggs after a strange 2023 campaign in which the 30-year-old was conspicuously limited over the second half of the year.

Diggs racked up five 100-yard performances over his first six games this past season, but then did not log a single 100-yard outing the rest of the way.

Overall, Diggs’ numbers looked great, as he hauled in 107 receptions for 1,183 yards and eight touchdowns en route to his fourth straight Pro Bowl appearance, but those statistics were very front-loaded.

Diggs is under contract with Buffalo through 2027, so the Bills have no need to trade him unless they simply want to facilitate an all-out rebuild and cash in on Diggs now while he still has good value.

More than likely, Buffalo will end up holding on to Diggs at least through the beginning of next season. Perhaps trade rumors will be reignited if the Bills are lagging behind at the deadline in October.

For now, though, this is probably just another instance of Stefon Diggs doing a little too much on social media. He would hardly be the only one, either.
