The NFL has made the ultimate decision on the hip-drop tackle.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that the hip-drop tackle has been banned.
"No surprise here, despite the NFLPA’s objections. The NFL made clear it wanted what it calls the swivel hip-drop tackle out of the game, and now it is. Expect more fines than flags as the league and coaches work to remove the technique," Pelissero wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

This is the tackle that injured running back Rhamondre Stevenson in the Patriots' loss to the Chargers during their Week 13 matchup in December, after he was tackled by Los Angeles linebacker Tuli Tuipulotu.

However, despite the injury to Stevenson, many of the players were not on board with this decision.
Safety Jabrill Peppers explained that "It’s football, man," while captain David Andrews expressed that they will "eventually take away everything in the game."
"It's the defense's job to tackle guys. I don't think people are doing that with malicious intent. Eventually, you keep taking away certain plays, taking away this, taking away that, and what's going to be left of the game? It's an unfortunate reality of this game and no one wants to see that," Andrews added after the Chargers game. Guys on other teams don't want to see guys get hurt. We don't want to see guys get hurt, but it's an unfortunate reality of playing in the NFL."

Now that it's official, let's see if players have anything else to add.
