As a part of roster cuts on Tuesday, the Carolina Panthers released linebacker Brandon Smith, according to Mike Kaye of the Charlotte Observer.
The Panthers selected Smith in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Penn State but has failed to make much of an impact on defense in his first year and change in the league. As a rookie, Smith appeared in twelve games and made eight tackles, primarily seeing action on special teams.
With the Panthers moving on from veteran Deion Jones earlier this morning, it felt like it may have helped Smith's chances to make the roster. Instead, he's searching for a home also.
