Patriots receive good news about RB Rhamondre Stevenson
Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports

The New England Patriots run game showed promise in Sunday's loss to the Indianapolis Colts, with Rhamondre Stevenson and Ezekiel Elliott making some big plays for the team.

And this all happened despite some of the issues the offensive line had.

However, Stevenson was sidelined for part of Sunday's down with a back injury and was marked questionable to return. He later returned to the field.

That in itself was a good sign, and one NFL Insider provided an even better update on Monday.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports that the tests of Stevenson's back came back negative following the injury scare, saying that his "back tightened up a bit, but (is) not considered serious."

Stevenson finished Sunday's game with 20 carries for 88 rushing yards along with three receptions for 14 yards.

So far this season, he has 126 carries for 482 yards ad three touchdowns. And this comes after his breakout season in 2022, finishing with 210 carries for 1,040 yards and five touchdowns.

The Patriots also brought in Ezekiel Elliott, with the running back also playing a part in the game. Elliott had 13 carries for 54 rushing yards and two receptions for 35 yards.

While New England's offense is clearly in shambles at the moment, the run game's success in recent weeks is a shining spot during this rough season.

So they clearly need Stevenson, and it seems this injury is not expected to sideline him for long, if at all.
