Report: Las Vegas Raiders Attempting To Move Up For Blockbuster Trade To Land Franchise QB
Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports

The Las Vegas Raiders are reportedly interested in making a major trade in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. The Raiders are looking to improve the roster in Antonio Pierce’s first season as the full-time head coach.

The Las Vegas Raiders need a quarterback

As previously discussed on GH, reports surfaced this week that Pierce wants the Raiders to trade up high into the first round to take one of the top quarterback prospects in the draft. Pierce “desires” former LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels in this draft. Daniels is also interested in a reunion with Pierce.

Raiders general manager Tom Telesco would be fine with sitting at 13 and taking a quarterback like Michael Penix Jr instead of risking future draft capital for Daniels, Drake Maye, or J.J. McCarthy.

However, ownership has given Telesco the green light to move up for a quarterback, and Telesco has a responsibility to at least try to help out the coach the owner picked. On Tuesday, Telesco said he likes Pierce’s vision for the Raiders.

The Raiders called the Washington Commanders about No. 2

Per Mike Garafolo with the NFL Network, the Raiders called the Commanders about the No. 2 pick, but Commanders general manager Adam Peters said he plans to keep and use the pick. The New England Patriots, who own the No. 3 pick, said they have not received a serious offer.

Will the Raiders get serious about moving up?

One has to wonder how much draft capital Telesco is willing to offer to get Pierce his quarterback. It’s one thing to make a phone call and send out a feeler or a lowball offer; it’s another to actually try and make a trade happen with a serious one.
