Robert Griffin III names CJ Stroud the MVP favorite for next season after Stefon Diggs’ arrival from Bills
Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports

There’s no denying that by acquiring Stefon Diggs , the Houston Texans offense has become one of the strongest across the league. Especially since they already have the reigning Rookie of the Year leading the offense, who also has the biggest advantage out of this trade deal.

While talking about how the Buffalo Bills made a huge mistake trading the No. 1 caliber wide receiver, Robert Griffin III highlighted how beneficial his trade deal has been for the loaded Texans offense. But that’s not all he said.

On a special note, RG3 named CJ Stroud the MVP favorite for having a solid pass rusher such as Diggs.

The bottom line is CJ Stroud should be the MVP favorite going into the season now because he already had a phenomenal rookie year without Stefon Diggs and without Tank Dell down the stretch . DeMeco Ryans and Nick Caserio are doing a phenomenal job of using the rookie contract of CJ Stroud and building around him knowing that they got that guy. Said Griffin III on the recent episode of RG3 and The Ones.

Griffin also applauded the Texans’ strategic offseason moves, as now their offense features prominent names such as Joe Mixon, Dameon Pierce , Diggs, Nico Collins , and Dell, who has recovered from his season-ending injury.

Confirming Griffin’s words, DraftKings reported that the odds of quarterback Stroud winning the NFL MVP title next season have improved from 11/1 to +900.

Stefon Diggs’ contract revamp with Texans

After acquiring Diggs, the Texans have made some adjustments to his contract as they have eliminated the final three years of his contract, as reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport on Thursday.

This deal offers the star receiver a one-year deal worth $22.52 million, paving the way for him to enter free agency.

This means Diggs’ first season with Stroud could also be his last season, and he may enter the free agency market as an unrestricted free agent in 2025. Although there is a possibility that the franchise re-signs him, if it happens, his contract wouldn’t have any previous ties with the Bills.

When the Bills released Diggs, the Texans didn’t waste a second in pursuing the receiver by offering a 2025 second-round pick, which fortunately the Bills agreed to and traded Diggs along with two Day 3 picks, believing it was in their best interest. Meanwhile, the Texans are coming off a surprising run to the playoffs with rookie Stroud, and for next season, they are all prepared.
