Steelers' playmaker takes a shot at former Pittsburgh QBs during latest media appearance
Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Steelers' new roster has had less than a month of interaction.

With offseason workouts returning in mid-April, the team is still finding their bearings as they approach the season with an entirely different QB room compared to the last two years.

But according to RB Jaylen Warren, there is already a massive difference:

Night & Day Difference

"It’s a night and day difference I would say with their leadership," Warren said on Cam Heyward's Not Just Football Podcast. "They bring a lot, they help out. They tell us how to run the route and they’re really on it when you don’t run it the certain way. They’re big on details, just you know, kind of what we preach it helps a lot.”

Now "night & day" difference is a strong phrase that was sure to generate fodder because it suggests the leadership of the previous room was not up to snuff.

Whether that be Kenny Pickett, Mitch Trubisky, Mason Rudolph or all of the above, that much we don't know.

What you are able to glean from Warren is pretty obvious. No matter where he has been, dating back to his time in college, Russell Wilson has been noted for being the ultimate leader and team member.

Part of what made him enticing to Pittsurgh was his pedigree, one that includes a Super Bowl ring as a leader of one of the best teams and defenses of the 2010's in Seattle.

As for Justin Fields, like former Steelers QBs, he isn't a vocal leader, but a quote from his former teammate and tight end Cole Kmet explains how well liked he was-is by the locker room:

“I was planning to hit the city and go out, but then I got a call from Flus and the people with the Bears, and decided to stay in after the news with Justin [being traded to Pittsburgh,” Kmet said on the CHGO Bears podcast. “Obviously, really upsetting that it came to that, and where it was at that moment, but you kind of felt like the writing was on the wall with that.”

It should also be noted that we are in the honeymoon phase of the offseason. We'll see if the same feelings persist when games begin to matter.
