Detroit Lions rookie linebacker Jack Campbell recorded 299 tackles during his four years at the University of Iowa.
However, he’s now most likely known for being on the receiving end of a tackle after a recent video surfaced of Campbell surfing that ended with his fiancee, Megan Meyer, jumping off a boat and spearing the 22-year-old defender WWE-style.

Naturally, the internet had some fun at Campbell's expense. Even retired three-time Pro Bowl linebacker Shawne Merriman joined in.

Campbell, the No. 18 overall pick in the 2023 draft, and Meyer, a former Duke basketball standout, publicly announced their engagement in an Instagram post on Sunday.
While the Lions presumably have high expectations for Campbell after using their second first-round pick to grab him, linebackers coach Kelvin Sheppard recently told the Detroit Free Press that he won’t be handed a starting job simply because he was a high draft pick.
“It’s easy for me to walk into my linebacker room after we take a guy Pick 18, because in probably 20 other rooms, that player’s starting and there’s nothing you can do about it as a position coach,” Sheppard said.
“Well, that’s not the case here. If Jack isn’t the top two or three, Jack will continue to go through the process of rookie development until he’s hit that mark.”
Campbell is expected to compete with Alex Anzalone, Malcolm Rodriguez and Derrick Barnes for a starting linebacker spot in training camp.
