Welcome the Newest New England Patriot: Ke’Shawn Vaughn

The New England Patriots signed running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn to a spot on the practice squad on Tuesday. Vaughn takes the spot vacated after Kevin Harris was signed to New England’s 53-man roster.

Starting RB Rhamondre Stevenson has missed the Patriots last two games. He suffered an ankle injury in Week 13 against the Los Angeles Chargers. It is unclear if Stevenson will play again in 2023. In his absence, Ezekiel Elliott has become New England’s featured back. He is backed up by Harris and JaMycal Hasty. Vaughn now provides further depth at running back for the Patriots.

Ke’Shawn Vaughn was a third round selection by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2020 NFL Draft. This followed consecutive 1,000-yard campaigns at Vanderbilt to finish his college career. He remained with the Buccaneers until being waived on Dec. 15.

Despite his relatively high draft position, Vaughn was never able to get a featured role in the Tampa Bay offense. Over the course of his four seasons, he appeared in 43 games. He totaled 103 carries for 384 yards and two touchdowns. Vaughn also amassed 14 receptions for 41 yards and another score.
