It’s inevitable when you’re having the kind of season the Anaheim Ducks are having that your top players’ names will come up in trade rumors. Whether there’s actually a deal brewing or not, come NHL Trade Deadline time, if you have any cache around the league and your team is not making the playoffs, someone will probably throw your name out there.
Dallas Eakins received an endorsement as Ducks coach from Bob Murray, and the GM told the Orange County Register he is still trying to upgrade the roster.https://t.co/Y02N4iAsNT

Such is the case for Ryan Getzlaf. He’s been mentioned often in potential trade scenarios, despite having a huge contract and a full no-move clause. But, don’t believe the rumors, says Ducks’ GM Bob Murray.
Murray has come out publicly and expressed his frustration with the Toronto media for perpetuating the rumors. As per a story on NHL.com, the GM has grown annoyed by how often Getzlaf ‘s name has been linked to trade talk and made a possible trade candidate. Murray notes he has not asked Getzlaf to consider waiving his no-movement clause and he has no future plans to do so.
Murray explained:
“I’m tired of hearing this from Toronto anymore, how his name is out there (in media rumors). The only way Ryan Getzlaf would go anywhere is if he came to me and said, ‘Bob, can you try and trade me to a contender?’ He added, “he’s not going anywhere.”
While the GM contends he has no plans to move the center, Getzlaf, 35, might ask to be moved. If he does, that changes the conversation based on Murray’s comments. At that point, the GM seems open to helping his veteran captain out. Playing the final season of an eight-year deal, we’ll see where this goes.
Beyond that, Murray doesn’t know what the future holds for the Ducks and Getzlaf. He notes, “As for next year, we’ve talked and we’re going to see how he feels after this year. We’ll see how his body feels. We’ll see how it’s going.” Murray added that Getzlaf may decide a rebuild is not for him.
