Kings re-claim former 50th overall pick off waivers
Los Angeles Kings left wing Samuel Fagemo (68) Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Kings have re-acquired forward Samuel Fagemo off waivers from the Nashville Predators.

Fagemo started the campaign with the Kings before Nashville claimed him during the preseason. He had just one goal in four games with the Preds this year, his third season in the NHL.

Drafted 50th overall in 2019, Fagemo made his NHL debut during the 2021-22 season. He didn’t register a point in four outings but did have a goal and three points in nine games last year. Fagemo has spent most of his pro career with the Ontario Reign, with his best season being a 27-goal, 44-point outing in 2021-22.

Fagemo gives the Kings some extra depth in the lineup, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see the 23-year-old back on waivers in the near future. The Kings would probably prefer to have him back in Ontario instead of sitting on the sidelines as a healthy scratch, but he is cheap at the league minimum of $775,000.

The Kings will have just over $3 million in cap space with Fagemo on the squad, so they’ve got the cap room to spare. Viktor Arvidsson currently resides on long-term injured reserve with his $4.25 million cap hit.

The Kings will welcome the Philadelphia Flyers to town tonight before getting a few days off. They’ll host Florida and St. Louis next week after a five-day break.
