NHL bets: A pair of plus-money point props for tonight's playoff hockey

We had our first rough go around here in the NHL market in what feels like quite some time, and we need to get back on track.

There are just two games tonight, but both Western Conference matchups should offer some exciting moments. I'll follow those projected moments with a pair of point prop plays built on the expectation of goals.

Jack Eichel & Jonathan Marchessault 1+ point each (+132

This Golden Knights-Stars series heads back to Dallas tonight, with the road team having won all four games so far. Whether that trend continues or not, I do find it interesting how much more offensive success Vegas tends to have when they play in Dallas.

This is the second straight postseason the two are squaring off, and the Knights are averaging 2.6 goals per game in five home games and a whopping 3.8 goals per game in five road games.

I can't explain it, I'm just observing it, and I do think this game can be high-scoring with Dallas feeling a bit less urgency than they did in Games 3 and 4.

When I consider who might get involved in some scoring for Vegas tonight, the only logical choice is this top line, led by Jack Eichel and Jonathan Marchessault. They are easily generating more even-strength shots and expected goals than anyone else, and it really isn't a contest.

Eichel now has a point in all four games this series, including two points in both games in Dallas, and Marchessault has four points this series, including three in Dallas.

This combo has hit in four of the past five road games against the Stars in the postseason. If you'd like to go with just a straight, I'm surprised books are hanging just a -125 price on Marchessault to get in on the fun.

Leon Draisaitl over 1.5 points (+144 FanDuel)

I don't see a world where Los Angeles is able to hold Edmonton to just 13 shots and one goal again, especially when you consider they did that and still lost at home.

The Oilers have consistently scored goals against the Kings on home ice across the past three postseasons, and I see that continuing as Edmonton looks to wrap up this series.

I dove down to see which lines on the Oilers have been most productive during even-strength play, and I'm drawn to their second line of Leon Draisaitl, Evander Kane and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. In the two home games, this trio combined for 17 even-strength shots and 1.66 expected goals, which is tops on the team (Edmonton's top line tallied nine shots and 1.49 expected goals, for context).

Draisaitl centers the line, and he is also extremely involved on the power play where the Oilers have had plenty of success against Los Angeles.

There are plenty of paths here for Draisaitl to produce, and I like rolling with his points at this price. He has 2+ points in three of four games this series and four of his last five home playoff games against them.
