My player to watch for the St. Louis Blues in their home opener on Saturday against the Seattle Kraken is center Kevin Hayes.
Hayes had himself a solid outing in a 2-1 shootout loss against the Dallas Stars on Thursday, getting 14:49 ice time, was a plus-1 and won 60 percent of his draws.
As one of the new players in the locker room, the 31-year-old will want to have a good showing in front of the home fans for the first time and should have some extra juice in his tank tonight.
Hayes, who centers a line with Jakub Vrana and Sammy Blais, have performed well throughout the preseason and I see that trend continuing tonight.
Hayes has one assist in three career games against the Kraken but those were as a member of the Philadelphia Flyers.
It wouldn't surprise me if Hayes scored his first goal of the season tonight.
