Revisiting one of the funniest NHL moments amid HC Alain Vigneault's retirement

After 19 seasons behind the bench, Alain Vigneault announced he was walking away from coaching earlier this week. While Vigneault leaves behind an impressive resume, he was also a part of arguably one of the funniest moments in NHL history.

Back in 2012, Dallas Stars forward Vernon Fiddler produced an impeccable impression of Vancouver Canucks defenseman Kevin Bieksa, which tickled Vigneault in a moment that's still memorable today.

Vigneault hasn't coached since leading the Philadelphia Flyers for parts of three seasons from 2019 to 2022. The 62-year-old has coached the Montreal Canadiens (1997 to 2001), Canucks (2006 to 2014), New York Rangers (2013 to 2018) and Flyers. Vigneault posted winning seasons 15 times, leading the Canucks (2011) and Rangers (2014) to the Stanley Cup Final.

Amassing a record of 722-489-35, Vigneault ranks 10th on the all-time coaching list for wins.

While he could never capture Lord Stanley's Cup, Vigneault seems content with his decision.

"I think it's time to enjoy life. I had a great career," Vigneault said via le journal de Quebec. "Hockey has been good for me and my family. At some point, you have to have a little fun, and I'm there in my life. I try to work on my golf, even if it doesn't work!"
