There is just one day left before the trade deadline arrives in the NHL this year and the Nashville Predators still may have some work to do. The Predators appear set to finish the season strong and make the playoffs, but have more than enough defensemen to help get the job done. This is where at least one trade seems like it is in order.

Not only is Alexandre Carrier's name in rumors as he has received a good amount of interest, the Predators still have to try to find a destination to send Tyson Barrie if it's possible.

When the lineup is healthy, Barrie doesn't crack the top-six for Nashville and has been a healthy scratch for a good number of games.  While Barrie has said there have been some darker times and optimistic times, he also appreciates the open line of communication ahead of the deadline that he and general manager Barry Trotz have.

According to Barrie, "He's (Trotz) trying to find what's best for the Preds and at the same time be fair to me." Teams are going to get more desperate the closer it comes to the deadline as players will continue being taken off the board. That is when the Predators should be able to get the most for Barrie. Up until this point, it doesn't exactly seem like there's a ton of takers or serious interest in Barrie. Nashville definitely doesn't want to have to use a draft pick to move him. The team has enough cap space to just hold onto him if that's the only option available to them.

Barrie is also no rookie in the league. He's been traded a couple of times and played for four different teams. He understands what it takes to pull off a trade, especially with cap space around the deadline and stated, "we'll see how it shakes out."

We're hoping for the best outcome for Barrie and the Predators and we should find out soon what comes of the whole situation. In my opinion, the best outcome is the Predators get an asset for Barrie and he is able to play out the rest of the season on a team where he is in the lineup every night.
