Goaltender Kevin Poulin has announced his retirement from pro hockey after a 13-year career. “After 13 years playing pro hockey all over the world and spending the last two years playing here at home, I am proud to announce my retirement,” Poulin said in an Instagram post.
The Montreal Canadiens goaltending situation is a bit of a crowded mess at the moment, and the same could be said for the Laval Rocket right now. The Habs have Sam Montembeault, Jake Allen and Casey DeSmith under contract and will only want to keep two of them on the NHL roster.

Laval gets to the midway point of their schedule with a huge win. Entering the three-game homestand against the Syracuse Crunch, the Laval Rocket said they were looking at the games as a playoff series.
It wasn’t the prettiest of wins, but it was another great showing for the Rocket on Friday night. On the heels of a major 6-2 win on Wednesday night against the Syracuse Crunch, the Rocket were back in action against their division rival once more on Friday night.
Not the start the Rocket wanted after a week off. The Laval Rocket enjoyed just over a week off. They had last played on January 19th against the Utica Comets, a game they won thanks in part to a two-goal effort from Jesse Ylönen.
Despite missing most of their lineup, Laval picks up a big win. Laval Rocket forward Jean-Sébastien Dea skated into the zone, took a drop pass from Kevin Roy, dragged the puck and fired the snap shot past Colten Ellis as the Laval Rocket came all the way back to defeat the Springfield Thunderbirds 4-3 in overtime on Friday night.
Trois-Rivières sweeps three-game set with Reading. The Lions de Trois-Rivières completed the fifth week of the ECHL season with a perfect record, winning all three games against their division rival, the Reading Royals.
