AC Milan Primavera were beaten 2-1 by Bologna on Wednesday afternoon as Thiago Motta watched on from the sidelines.

It was an overall poor display from Ignazio Abate’s side despite the first half being well-contested by both teams. Despite being involved in the play, all Milan could really muster in the first half was a shot from Francesco Camarda which hit the post.

The scoring was opened after 14 minutes as Tommaso Ebone was played through on goal and got the better of Lapo Nava.

Milan were in the game but Bologna were more clinical, with the lead being doubled in the 24th minute. It was Ebone who scored again, this time heading in a cross from Lorenzo Menegazzo.

The second half continued in the same manner as the first with Milan looking relatively dangerous, but lacking a real cutting edge.

They did not get on the scoresheet until the 75th minute when Alessandro Bonomi, who had come on five minutes prior, collected a throw-in behind the Bologna defence and scored.

Milan applied pressure in the closing stages but could not find the equaliser, meaning they remain seventh. Bologna are still fighting towards the bottom of the table, but will have impressed the watching Motta who was chatting to Abate before the match.
