Chelsea academy product is highest rated U21 in Premier League this season

Levi Colwill has an average rating of 6.85 on WhoScored this season, higher than any other under 21 player in the whole league.

He’s had his ups and downs, but this is a reminder that all players that young go through the same thing. Most fans have quickly forgotten that Colwill is so young, simply because he’s played so much for us already.

It’s a sign of just how good Colwill’s season has been overall. Ask most Chelsea fans what they make of his season so far and they’ll say the exact same thing – it’s been good, especially considering he’s been used almost exclusively out of position. But few would imagine he’s been doing this well, because we see him up close, warts and all.

But maybe we should be thinking beyond that qualifier. Ignore the fact that Colwill is being used out of position – according to the numbers, he’s the best U21 left back in the league. In fact, he’s the best U21 player in the league full stop.
