Chelsea given another Reece James warning as two dominant European super teams stalk him

Caughtoffside are among the outlets with warnings for Chelsea about potential future moves for captain Reece James.

A source quoted by them says that Manchester City are desperate to sign the full back if he ever leaves Chelsea – and also that they’d have hot competition in the form of Real Madrid.

“Reece and his camp are aware that if he wanted to leave, City would be first in the queue – but that isn’t under consideration. He loves Chelsea, they love him, and he wants to lift the Premier League as their captain,” they quote a source as saying.

“In the future, could he be tempted by Real Madrid? That would depend how things go, but don’t rule it out.”

The quotes are a little scary, without doubt. But then again, they’re designed to be. Can you say for sure that any player in the world wouldn’t be at least potentially tempted by Real Madrid, at some undetermined point in the future, if they come calling? We didn’t blame Eden Hazard, and we wouldn’t blame James, even if he is an academy player. At that point he might have played with us for ten years and just want a change.

For now, it’s still not worth worrying about. No move is on the cards for a few years at least, so we should just enjoy having Reece fit and playing rather than fret about his future.
