Football stats site WhoScored did not think much of Chelsea’s performance today – the team’s average rating was just 6.31 out of 10.
The lowest rated player on the pitch was Malo Gusto, who had a stinking 5.4. That was a pretty fair summary of his showing yesterday.
We really like Gusto’s potential as a player, and let’s not forget he’s only just come back from injury, but today was awful. Both in attack and defence he was poor. He produced one brilliant cross – only to see Nicolas Jackson head it wide. Otherwise, it was a bad day at the office, as his stats suggest.
To give away such a silly penalty at the end of the game really compounded the whole thing. This wasn’t a moment of madness or a desperate attempt to save face, it was a silly and unnecessary tackle to put the game out of reach when there was still almost 20 minutes to play.
