Celtic and Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish has said that Kyogo Furuhashi is one of the bargains of the millennium after his goal proved the difference in the first Glasgow Derby meeting of the season. The strike, on the brink of half time, delivered all three points and the bragging rights to Paradise.

Speaking in The Sunday Post, Dalglish praised Celtic’s mentality as they battled to a victory and protected the lead that they earned thanks to a stunning strike from the Japanese hitman.

“I need to commend the winning goal from Celtic’s Kyogo. It was an outstanding strike and just reaffirmed again what a wonderful talent he is. At a transfer fee of around £4m, he is one of the transfer bargains of the millennium.

“Last Sunday showed, once again, that Celtic are the team to beat and will not give up their title lightly. They have quality players and a winning mentality. Led by captain Callum McGregor, they know what it takes to be successful.”

Ange Postecoglou maintained the club’s standards and brought an exciting style of play with him. Brendan Rodgers, who was incredible in his first time as Celtic manager, will look to use the experience from the Premier League to take Celtic on to another level.

Kyogo has 57 goals in 88 appearances, along with 11 assists. The Japanese striker arrived for just £4m from Vissel Kobe and has been exceptional.

The striker signed a new long-term deal at Celtic over the summer and it is hoped that he can go to an even higher level under Rodgers. Kyogo will fancy making an impression in the Champions League after failing to really make his mark last season.
