Erik ten Hag faces wage cut after Manchester United shortcomings

Failure to qualify for the Champions League next season will result in a wage cut for Erik ten Hag if he remains in charge.

It has been a challenging second campaign for Manchester United under Ten Hag. We were eliminated from the Champions League before Christmas and we are currently positioned seventh in the Premier League.

The only positive we can reflect on this season is reaching the FA Cup final. However, it will be a huge task to beat reigning champions Man City, who were successful against us in last year’s final.

There is no denying that United have regressed this season, but many fans firmly believe that is down to the amount of injuries the team has suffered. Others are quick to forget that Ten Hag overachieved in his first season as manager and blips were inevitable along the journey.

Now we learn that United’s shortcomings will hit Ten Hag and others in the pocket.

According to a report by ESPN, Ten Hag will face a ’25 per cent pay cut’ next season.

United’s hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League have diminished and it’s quickly becoming an impossible task.

As a result, Ten Hag and several members of the squad are set to face a reduction in his salary.

All of these figures are on incentivised contracts at Old Trafford and we fully suspect new signings will be on similar.
