Ex Inter Milan Striker Argues: ‘Happy To See Inter Beat Juventus, But It Was A Dull Match'

Mario Balotelli is happy that Inter Milan beat Juventus, but felt that the Derby d’Italia was a poor quality match.

The former Italian international spoke to Italian broadcaster TVPlay, via FCInterNews. He gave his thoughts on last weekend’s Serie A match between the Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri.

Inter beat Juventus in the second Derby d’Italia of the season on Sunday.

It was a relatively convincing performance by the Nertazzurri. Simone Inzaghi’s team won by a 1-0 scoreline. However, it could have been more.

Juventus keeper Wojciech Szczesny had to make a couple of excellent saves.

Meanwhile, at the other end, the Bianconeri were not able to create much beyond a couple of promising counterattacking situations.

It was certainly a more entertaining match than the tense, cagey match that Inter and Juventus had played out in their first meeting of the season in Turin last November.

However, it was not exactly a thriller.

Of the first save that Juventus keeper Szczesny make, Balotelli said that “Szczesny made a great save. Barella can’t be blamed for that at all.”

“Even on Arnautovic’s poink blank shot he performed another miracle,” he continued.

“The ex-Bologna striker could not have done much more there,” Balotelli argued. “Maybehe could have changed his body position, but there’s still the great save by the Juventus keeper.”

“However, the title race is not over,” Balotelli cautioned.

“There are still a lot of matches left to go, it has to be said.”

“However, that Inter’s squad is superior to that of Juventus. The Nerazzurri squad was built very intelligently. They didn’t just sign a bunch of players who cost big transfer fees.”

And Balotelli added that “I’ve played in a number of matches between Inter and Juve. And you know what? I felt bad for the fans.”

“It was a dull match,” the striker continued. “Very dull.”
