‘I feel sorry…’: Harry Redknapp predicts trouble for Spurs star against Man City ace who is ‘killing defenders’

Tottenham Hotspur will take on Manchester City later today and they will be up against a top-class side who have been in impressive form in recent weeks.

Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has now sent out a warning to the Tottenham defender Pedro Porro who will be up against Belgian international Jeremy Doku.

The 21-year-old has been outstanding since he moved to Manchester City and he has impressed with his explosive performances week in and week out. His ability to take on the full back and beat them consistently has given Manchester City a cutting edge in the final third and Redknapp believes that Porro could have a tough time against the Manchester City star.

“There aren’t many games now when the full-back gets put under any serious, sustained pressure. Players are more intent on a safe pass and keeping possession than running at their opponent and trying to be positive,” said Redknapp to the Sun.

“But in Doku, Pep has a player who thinks the opposite. Someone who is killing defenders, in a football sense, every time he gets the ball.”

“I feel sorry for Pedro Porro, who will be the one in his firing line today when Tottenham are at the Etihad. Porro’s done alright in his first season in England but he will have his hands full this afternoon. To be honest, it looks a pretty thankless task all round for Spurs,” he added.

The Tottenham defender has often been criticised for his defensive vulnerabilities. The Spaniard is quite impressive going forward, but he can be a bit lacklustre defensively. He will have to be extremely careful against the Belgian winger at the weekend. Doku has the ability to punish Porro if there are lapses in his concentration.

Tottenham started the season well but they have now crashed to three defeats in a row. They will be desperate to grind out a positive result against the Premier League champions and it remains to be seen whether they can put on an impressive performance.

A win over Manchester City could give them an immense confidence boost and help them get their season back on track.
