Manchester City Interested in Palace Star

Why Do City Need Eze?

Although The Citizens are yet to formalise their interest, recent developments suggest it could be a realistic possibility. They were very close to signing West Ham United’s attacking midfielder, Lucas Paqueta, but the deal fell through at the last moment due to some off-the-pitch issues. The need for an attacking midfielder was raised when their talisman, Kevin de Bruyne, suffered a serious injury during the club’s Premier League opener against Burnley. The Belgian is expected to be out for a considerable amount of time.

The England international can turn out to be an able deputy in the attacking midfield position for the Premier League champions in the absence of their star man. Similar to the Belgian, he is capable of producing match-winning moments out of thin air, as he has displayed in recent seasons with the Eagles.

The former QPR man’s versatility is another big asset, he can even play as a winger if needed. This trait will help him get minutes even when De Bruyne returns from injury.

Crystal Palace’s Demands and City Scout’s Review of Eze

According to reports, City’s senior scouts are heavily impressed by the “explosive” midfielder after following him for six months at Palace. The trait that attracted the scouts the most was his ability to control the game for the Selhurst Park-based team. Although the player has only two years left on his contract, Palace are expected to demand a transfer fee in excess of £70 million from any club that wishes to snatch away their prized asset.

Manchester City are also looking at Matheus Nunes from Wolverhampton Wanderers according to David Ornstein. Nunes and Eze are among the small pool of midfielders the treble-winners are looking at to solidify their midfield.
