Petr Cech’s future hangs in the balance after major power shift at Chelsea

Today’s two bombshells about the departures of Marina Granovskaia and Bruce Buck have left us reeling – but they have also left a major question hanging in the air – the future of Petr Cech.

He was appointed by those key figures in the old regime, and while Matt Law’s piece on the departure of Marina claims that Cech has been asked to continue, it’s not yet clear if he will want to.

Cech is obviously a popular figure at Chelsea thanks to his legendary playing career, and seems to have done an excellent job since being appointed as technical and performance director, so there is great desire for him to stay in place at the club even under Todd Boehly’s new ownership.

But we simply don’t know what is going on behind the scenes at the moment, or how Cech will feel about working under Boehly and the potential replacements for Granovskaia and Buck.
