Romano: United ‘now pushing in talks’ to seal crucial deal with key star who can be face of INEOS project

Manchester United are actively negotiating for Kobbie Mainoo to sign a contract extension ‘by this summer’, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The board are adamant about tying down the starlet’s long-term future at Old Trafford, therefore fending off any potential outside interest from clubs over the transfer window.

Romano claims that United are ‘now pushing in talks’ to get an agreement over the line. The proposed contract would see Mainoo’s salary increased, as well as numerous add-ons for the youngster, which is nothing less than what he deserves.

INEOS are also proving vital in the discussions over his future, as they want the 18-year-old to become ‘one of the faces’ of their new project in M16, with United currently preparing for their first-ever window under co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Mainoo’s career continues on its upward trajectory

Now a senior England international with two caps to his name, Mainoo could well find himself on the plane to the Euros this June after a scintillating breakout campaign at club level.

He has become a mainstay in Erik ten Hag’s starting 11 – something that is highly unlikely to change if a new manager is sought in the near future.

The United faithful frequently find themselves counting their lucky stars after each outstanding performance from the teenager and hopefully, there’s plenty more on the horizon.
