Sherwood: Henderson better Liverpool captain than Gerrard

Former Tottenham and Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood has lavished praise on Jordan Henderson.

Sherwood has claimed that current Ajax and former Liverpool star Henderson was a better captain than Steven Gerrard.

The latter is revered as an Anfield legend, despite Henderson winning the Premier League and Gerrard failing to do so.

Speaking to William Hill, Sherwood talked about his all time Liverpool 11, stating: Moving onto midfield, Steven Gerrard has to be in there, and I know my next player will cause a bit of a stir but I've got my reasons Jordan Henderson.

For me, Henderson is the greatest captain Liverpool have had in the Premier League era. I think he was a better captain than Steven Gerrard because Henderson won the Premier League and the Champions League.

Obviously Stevie was brilliant and they won the Champions League with him too.

From a captain's perspective, Henderson gives you more than what you see on the pitch and, Stevie might've done that as well, but Jordan is a manager's dream.

He'll stick his team in line and push them in the right direction in terms of how to play for Liverpool and what the demands are from the manager."
