Al-Ettifaq manager Steven Gerrard signed a new contract with the Saudi Pro League club this week.

Gerrard had penned a two-year deal until June 2025 when he arrived at the club last summer, but his extension means that he is now under contract until June 2027.

A club statement said that Gerrard had been "rewarded" with a new contract.

This is despite Ettifaq failing to record a single win in nine matches before the winter break.

But the statement highlighted "significant progress in terms of the club's overall foundations and technical capabilities with major steps taken towards long-term and sustainable success."

It added: "Gerrard's summer arrival coincided with the appointment of new club president Samer Al Misehal and since then both have shared the same vision for the club, working hand in hand to make a number of fundamental improvements at the club, including the overseeing of a move to a new stadium, securing new training facilities and opening a physical conditioning centre."

This was one of two major announcements made by Ettifaq on Friday.

The other confirmed that midfielder Jordan Henderson had left the club after having his contract terminated by "mutual agreement".

Henderson, who joined Ajax upon leaving Saudi Arabia, made just 19 appearances for Ettifaq following his arrival from Liverpool in July.

How Much Is Steven Gerrard Earning At Al-Ettifaq?

Gerrard's new contract is said to have come with a significant pay-rise.

A report by The Sun in July claimed that Gerrard would earn an annual salary of £15.2 million at Ettifaq.

However, journalist Ben Jacobs does not believe this to be accurate.

According to Jacobs this week, Gerrard's new salary - after a pay-rise in the region of 25% - will be "around £6.5m-per-year with bonuses on top based on team success."
