Where will Kalvin Phillips be playing his football after the transfer window?

As the January transfer window moves along where will City’s forgotten midfielder Kalvin Phillips be playing his football at the end of the month? He seems destined to depart the world champions this month as he seeks more regular football. Here are four teams who have recently been linked with a move for the midfielder.

Newcastle United

Eddie Howe’s side have been heavily linked with a move for Kalvin Phillips. With the Magpies losing Sandro Tonali to suspension they would appear to be in the market for a midfielder.

Kealen Hughes reports for the Sun that a potential loan move for Newcastle for the midfielder may be in doubt. Hughes reports that Newcastle may have issues with Financial Fairplay Rules if they pursue a deal for Phillips. With the Sun also reporting that Manchester City want a £5 million loan fee included in any deal for the England international. With the champions also requesting a mandatory option to buy in any loan deal for Phillips it may halt any deal with Newcastle.

Eddie Howe’s side do appear to be the perfect destination for Phillips. With FFP hanging over Newcastle United, it may make it a hard deal for the Saudi-backed club to put together.

Crystal Palace and Fulham

Hughes also reports for the Sun that Crystal Palace and Fulham have an interest in Kalvin Phillips. Both sides could be an ideal destination for the Manchester City man.

With Fulham sitting 13th and Palace 14th in the Premier League table both clubs could potentially offer Kalvin Phillips the first team football he has missed out on under Pep Guardiola.

The two London-based clubs may both be prime candidates for the signature of Kalvin Phillips.

Juventus

Fabrizio Romano reported in December that Juventus had begun talks with City over a possible deal for the midfielder. It appears that negotiations are continuing due to the lack of updates on the talks between the two clubs.

A move to Juventus would allow Kalvin Phillips to play for a big club and in a new country in a bid to relaunch his career.

Summary

As it stands there is no shortage of clubs interested in Kalvin Phillips. With the midfielder not in Pep Guardiola’s plans a move does feel inevitable. With options in England and abroad it would appear that the next move for Phillips may see him reignite his career.

It could be one of the clubs mentioned above or another club that secures City’s forgotten man. Unfortunately, his time at Manchester City hasn’t panned out as he or the club would’ve liked. A move this month will suit both parties.
