When The Rock returned to WWE, the fans were more interested in Cody Rhodes, which resulted in a WrestleMania 40 match undergoing a change.

The Rock Flexed WWE Power To Change WrestleMania 40 Match

WWE tried for years to put together The Rock vs Roman Reigns. Finally, they were able to piece that bout for WrestleMania 40.

Although, it did not last long. Instead of handing his spot to The Rock, Rhodes changed his mind at the WrestleMania 40 Presser and will now face Reigns.

The intense segment saw The Rock continue his heel turn by insulting the crowd. After slapping Cody across the face, The Rock had words with Triple H in the back.

It does look like WWE is teasing another angle to see whether The Rock or Triple H has more power.

Apparently, the crowd reaction caused WWE make the swift WrestleMania change. And, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes how The Rock called for the late audible.

“There is said to be far more behind the scenes that hasn’t come out but given the timing can’t be talked about now,” the report stated. “But Johnson over the weekend said it was best to be out of the Reigns match, put Cody in, which by this point everyone conceded by then.”

“It was Johnson who then pitched the heel turn and he did pitch the idea of the Reigns & Rock vs. Rhodes & Rollins match for night one. So, that was his idea if that is how it turns out.”

As of now, that tag team match has not been confirmed. Yet, WWE is heavily teasing something in that direction.

Whatever they decided, we should learn before the Elimination Chamber concludes.

There is a chance all four wrestlers mentioned work both nights. Clearly, The Rock joining the TKO Board has its perks.

So, did The Rock make the right call by having WWE dramatically change a WrestleMania 40 match?
