Velvet Sky shares her thoughts on her future following her departure from NWA.

Sky started working with NWA in March 2021, and she was a member of the broadcast team. She announced her exit in a tweet on September 8.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Velvet Sky discussed her experience working on commentary in the NWA. She stated that she’d like to try out commentary again, or at least remain involved in the wrestling business. However, the veteran made it clear that she is “more than satisfied” with her career in thre industry.(H/t Andrew Thompson of POST Wrestling)

“I honestly had a blast at the NWA in the commentary role. I like to try to be versatile in this industry,” Velvet Sky said. “Not just be known as Velvet Sky the wrestler. It’s like when you put your whole youth into something and then that part of your life comes to an end.

“I’ve been in the industry since I was 20 years old. 22 years later, I’m still a part of it even though I’m not active in the ring and I would like it to stay that way as far as being involved in the industry in some role and if I’m not, again, then I’m totally fine because I’m totally at peace and I’m totally happy and satisfied with what I have done in the wrestling industry.”

Velvet Sky On Trying Commentary Again

Velvet Sky then reflected on her time working on commentary in NWA. She noted that Tim Storm and Joe Galli took her under their wing. Sky described how she believes she was just getting her feet wet, and she’d like to try commentary out again. She also repeated that she is satisifed with her career.

“Joe (Galli) and Tim (Storm), they took me under their wing and I learned a lot from them. They showed me the ropes of commentary and I still have a lot to learn obviously,” Velvet Sky said. “I feel like I was just getting my toes wet in commentary with the NWA. But you know, good things have to come to an end. I have nothing bad to say about the company, my time there. That locker room as well is a breath of fresh air.

“I wouldn’t mind trying commentary out again somewhere, somehow and if it happens, great and if it (doesn’t), like I said, I’m more than satisfied with my time in wrestling and what I’ve done in wrestling even though wrestling, it’s in my blood, in my heart and in my soul. So of course I would always want to be a part of this industry in some way, shape or form. So you never know. Never say never. But yes, I would honestly like to try out commentary somewhere or just being involved in wrestling as a whole would be great.”

WrestleZone will provide more information on Sky’s future as it becomes available.
